Tiny Acts of Care

“Tiny Acts of Care” is a series of folded accordion book forms. Each cloth covered hardback publication extends the language of repair into and through each page, fold and bind.
Exploring mindful mending as both a material practice and a philosophical stance, these books are intended to be archives of care, echoing Louise Bourgeois’ thoughts on stitching and emotional repair: “You repair the thing until you remake it completely.”
Sewing into paper presents a unique challenge: resistance to each puncture, fragility under tension requiring a delicate negotiation between strength and subtlety. Each stitch must be deliberate, each mark considered, the stitches offer a counter narrative, placed visibly on each page rather than offering silent support throughout the foundation of a book form.
Each book is a tactile document, threads wind through pages, mapping a practice rooted in touch, labour and layered memory. Voids are patched and repaired, offering a view through the pages but also inviting the viewer to celebrate the intricacies of the reverse of the work and the rhythm of the needle.
